Hotel Review: Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East M1, Jct.14,

Hotel Review: Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East M1, Jct.14, I spent my Christmas Eve at Holiday Inn Milton Keynes M1, Jct 14. I was driving to London and needed a hotel nearby and Milton Keynes seems the best option. I decided to check the Holiday Inn as I needed it in order to qualify for the “Into the Nights” promotion.

The property was almost empty and I believe only 10 rooms were occupied. I am a IHG Platinum member through a status match i did with them and this has now expired. I like the IHG points offers however I have never received any benefits with my IHG membership so I don’t think it is even worth trying to achieve a status with them. So even though i might try and run a few more of their promotions if they are reasonable. I will not be going out of my way to qualify with them ever again.

Even though it was Christmas Eve and the hotel was practically empty I was informed there were no Executive rooms or better rooms than the standard room I had. I didn’t really push it because there was no point as I was literally going to sleep and leave.

The property seems renovated. The property is located just off the M1 and it is very easy to find. Milton Keynes is a 10 minute drive and you can find plenty of places where you have can dinner. Even during this time we managed to find a halal place and have a good meal. 🙂

Our room looked good at first glance. It did look renovated with some new furniture. The couch had definitely seen better days and the most shocking part was the bathroom. It was clear that the bathroom didn’t get an uplift at all. It seemed that they skipped it even though it is part of the room. It had an 80’s feel with mould around the corners and there were hairs in the bathroom which looked that it wasn’t cleaned properly and a mismatched tiles. 🙂 I guess they ran out and decided to borrow a tile form the bathroom next door. The cups were dirty as well, but at least they were there.

It was already late and as it was Christmas Eve and there were no managers in the property. To be honest I didn’t even try to complain as i am sure it would be in vein.

The bed was not very comfortable either, however I can’t judge this 100% as I was already in pain because of my back problem and on painkillers. So my judgement might be clouded on this matter.

For what it is worth I did email the property and the IHG customer service with my complains and some photos however their response was the standard “Thank you, your comments have been passed on.”

Overall if the price is right I might stay again if I must complete a promotion. It gives you easy access to the M1 which is perfect if you are travelling to London. Last time I spent my night in the Hilton Doubletree Milton Keynes with a view to the stadium for £40 per night and I had a free breakfast as a Gold member. I believe I paid around £55 for the night in the Holiday Inn, which considering the property seems a little expensive. I would pay this for the room but not for the bathroom which was dirty and old.
