Umrah this winter – The cheapest way to book Crowne Plaza Madinah

I have mentioned a dozen of times how great the IHG promotions are and I have always encouraged my readers to collect some of their points via their promotions. Well it is time now to cash out on these promotions! So I hope you have been listening!

IHG group, (the mother of Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Crown Plaza etc) are running their PointBreaks promotion again (5,000 points per night). You can read more about the promotion here, but basically every quarter they reveal hotels that can be booked for only 5,000 points instead of their usual rate points rate (maximum up to 50,000). I have stayed in some great properties this way and I love taking advantage of their free night promotions. In fact I just used my two free night certificates from their previous promo.

However, this month their PointBreaks promotion includes the Crowne Plaza Madinah. The Crowne Plaza is a new hotel, with a modern decor right next to the female entrance of the mosque which is literally just a few steps away. Currently there are 3 IHG properties in Madinah and the Crowne Plaza competes with the two Intercontinental in the area which was literally next to the Prophet’s mosque and the market place.

Personally I was booked into the Crowne Plaza hotel for Ramadan and I have no problem staying there, especially since you can reach the market via the mosque in around 10- 15 minutes. If you are travelling with your spouse or family then the female entrance for prayer is a little further away. Some reviews on TripAdvisor say around a 20min walk, however the Rawdah is next door. Usually it costs an average of £100 per night or 30,000 points in December/ January. So either way you will be getting yourself a bargain. The hotel also provides a free shuttle to the main entrance.

When to book

The promotion allows you to book the hotel from November 2015 to January 2016 for only 5,000 points per night. This means that the Umrah visas will be open for everyone and it is their peak season. For example some of the dates in December 24th to 28th are fully booked but you can book for early December or January and they is availability as of now. I know many people have emailed me with requests about Umrah in December and this is absolutely the cheapest way to book your hotels for Madinah.

The PointBreaks offers usually opens around early afternoon for the UK, so I would say after 2pm you should be checking if the promotion has been uploaded. I will also post on social media when it is out, so make sure you follow me on Facebook and Twitter. 🙂

The catch – Book fast

This will work only if you already have accumulated some points in your account. So I really hope you have listened to my advice and taken some of their promotions into consideration. Sometimes it might work out cheaper by buying points but not always. Be quick because the points availability is limited and they will go quicker than we can say cheese!

Some of the other properties available for booking with the PointBreaks:

Another property that stands out for me is the Intercontinental Semiramis. I did have plans for a trip to Egypt and this might be a great time to visit. Planning holidays and being flexible can always work well especially with some good offers too.

And finally,  another destination that I would like to visit is Bali and the Holiday Inn Bali Benoa seems like a lovely place, though it is still cheap even when paying by cash only.
