I love Zurich. It is such a beautiful city. I have been to Geneva and a few other places in Switzerland during a road trip but I have to say Zurich is my favourite. It is not one of the cheapest cities in Europe but it is definitely worth visiting. We spent an evening in Zurich before our flight out and we stayed at the Radisson Blu hotel in the airport. It is only 10 minutes by train to Zurich city centre, which cost £13 return ticket per person and it is a great base if you have an early flight in the morning.
Zurich proved to be a very Muslim friendly city as well. We felt very welcome and not even for a second did I see a stare or a “funny” look. Every time we asked for directions people where so helpful, polite and smiling, it was really nice.
So if you have a few hours in Zurich here is what I would recommend doing. Head towards the city centre and towards Zurich lake. I wanted to take the lake cruise as well but unfortunately we arrived to late due to our flight being delayed. We arrived just before sunset and it was a perfect day for a stroll around the city. The train station is about 5minutes walk from the bridge and the old town of Zurich towards the lake so there is no way you can miss this. We also asked for directions since I took the wrong turn!
I love the feel of people going out for an evening drink and just enjoying the company of friends and family. The small cafes with their tables outside make it picture perfect. It reminds me of my evenings in Greece. We walked towards the lake while enjoying using my selfie stick for photos and vlogging. I can say it was quite funny since people were stopping looking at that crazy hijabi posing (yep, that was me). Totally embarrassing!
If you are looking for a weekend trip close to the UK but somewhere beautiful then go to Zurich and you won’t regret it. Totally Muslim friendly and they also have some halal places for food and there is a great falafel place in town as well. There is also a mosque, you can find the address here.
Some photos for you to enjoy of beautiful Zurich

Why do you cover half of your face? Isn’t that weird?

@Roland – I think her glasses look quite cool and seem to beclever to change it’s tint according to the sun.
Elena – Thank for the Zurich view, I have not been since I was a child and don’t remember the city and now I will add it back to my list. The first picture in your post where is that taken from which bridge?
